Her father was a deplomat and her mather was a painter. For more than 10 years during her childfood, Mieko Yuki has lived in many countries such as England, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Sweden, etc. with her parents. As she wanted to express "something", she learned ballet, music and theatrical play to become an actress in Japan.
Being an actress, she creates ceramic figurines and her works are very well accepted at home and abroad. Her works are so lively and leap beyond any cultural boundaries with ease. They sometimes look funny and grotesque at other times. Every work expresses strength and tenderness which Mieko Yuki had developed in herself in different cultural settings.
