Suifu Mori Carved wooden Figures for Boy's Festival

Ginza Ippodo Salon is honored to present an exhibition of carved wooden figures by Suifu Mori. Mori is a woodcrafter based in Kyoto, Japan. Studying under his father Kodo Mori, he has engaged in carving figures of hinoki cypress for more than forty years. Born in Kyoto, Mori naturally succeeded in his father's work and has focused on mastering his skill of carving. Mori's figures are superb examples of Japanese traditional art heritage. The figures are made of hinoki cypress and painted with "Suihi" colors, which are generally used in traditional Japanese paintings. The doll faces have Kyoto style nuanced elegance and the perfection of finishing will impress viewers.

A Suifu Mori's dolls wil form main part of exhibition at Ginza Ippodo Salon. There will also be presented a selection of works by his son Takayuki Mori who is the third generation of this artistic family.
